INTERNAL REGULATIONS
Internal regulations governing conditions of access to the Observatoire Paris Montparnasse, located at 33 avenue du Maine – 75015 Paris, and in particular to the Espace Panoramique (56th floor) and the Terrasse (59th floor) (hereinafter the “Venue”).
These rules and regulations (hereinafter the “Rules and Regulations”) apply to individual and group visitors to the Venue (hereinafter the “Visitors”), which is managed by OPTM (33 avenue du Maine – 75755 Paris Cedex 15, RCS Paris n°838 918 944), operating under the trade name “Observatoire Paris Montparnasse” (hereinafter “Observatoire Paris Montparnasse”).
For your safety and to ensure that your visit to the Site is a pleasant one, we ask you to respect the following rules.
Any visit to the Site implies acceptance by Visitors of the provisions of the Internal Regulations.
1. ACCESS TO THE SITE
1.1 Access control
For security reasons, entry to the Site is subject to a visual check, or by the use of special screening equipment, of Visitors’ clothing, coats, bags and personal belongings, in accordance in particular with the “Vigipirate” system.
Access to the Venue will also be subject to presentation of a valid ticket, which must be retained by the Visitor for the duration of the visit. Observatoire Paris Montparnasse may also make access to the Venue subject to prior presentation of proof of identity.
In the event of refusal to submit to security checks, Observatoire Paris Montparnasse reserves the discretionary right to refuse access to the Venue.
It is also forbidden to bring into the Venue any object presenting a risk to the safety of persons or the building, and in particular :
– Illegal, dangerous, explosive, flammable or volatile substances;
– Dangerous objects, in particular weapons, ammunition and knives of an offensive or defensive nature, whatever their category. Also excluded are all types of objects or toys with the appearance of a weapon (e.g. laser gun, water pistol, dummy gun, knife, etc.) likely to endanger the safety of Visitors;
– Alcoholic beverages or glass bottles;
– noisy objects likely to disturb the peace and quiet of Visitors (loudspeakers, vuvuzela, voice boxes, horns, whistles);
– any other object that the Observatoire Paris Montparnasse deems inappropriate or likely to disturb the smooth running of the visit and the peace and quiet of Visitors (parachute/canopy/tarp/banner, etc.) as well as the security of the Venue.
1.2 Bulky objects
As Observatoire Paris Montparnasse has no lockers on the premises, its employees are not authorized to store Visitors’ personal belongings (in particular luggage and coats), which must be kept with them for the entire duration of the visit.
If objects are so bulky that they are likely to disturb other Visitors or endanger the security of the Venue, Observatoire Paris Montparnasse may, at its discretion, refuse Visitors access to the Venue.
Strollers and small carts are permitted.
1.3 Rolling machines
It is forbidden to enter the Site and use roller skates, bicycles, scooters or any other mobile device, whether motorized or not.
If a Visitor’s state of health so requires, he or she may use a wheelchair, whether motorized or not.
1.4. Dress code
Proper attire is required at all times. Visitors must wear shoes and full dress. Access to the Venue may be refused by Observatoire Paris Montparnasse if these dress requirements are not met.
1.5. Minors
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult to purchase an admission ticket and gain access to the Venue. They must be under the constant supervision of these persons, who are then responsible for any damage they may cause or that may be caused to them.
1.6. Pets
Small animals may be admitted to the site in their owner’s bag.
Animals used to accompany disabled persons are permitted.
Pets must be kept on a leash and in the care of their owner.
1.7. Validity of admission tickets
Visitors undertake to check and respect the validity of the ticket giving them access to the Venue.
Observatoire Paris Montparnasse reserves the discretionary right to refuse access to the Venue to any person who does not have a valid ticket when presented at the Venue.
1.8 Opening days and times
The opening days and times of the Observatoire Paris Montparnasse are published on the Observatoire Paris Montparnasse website (https://www.tourmontparnasse56.com/fr/).
These times may be changed at the discretion of Observatoire Paris Montparnasse for organizational or security reasons.
The last entrance is 30 minutes before closing time.
2. SAFETY AND HYGIENE INSTRUCTIONS
2.1. General behaviour of Visitors
Visitors undertake to comply with all laws and regulations and not to commit any criminal offence during their visit to the Site. More generally, Visitors undertake to behave in a reasonable and appropriate manner.
Observatoire Paris Montparnasse reserves the discretionary right to refuse access to any person whose behaviour is likely to endanger the safety of Observatoire Paris Montparnasse, the Venue or other visitors.
Without this list being exhaustive, offences such as insult, verbal or physical violence, theft, disturbance of the peace, fraud, swindling, drunkenness, indecency, discrimination or racism, malice, failure to comply with safety instructions and the Internal Regulations, may lead the Observatoire Paris Montparnasse to intervene and take appropriate measures. In such cases, Observatoire Paris Montparnasse will inform the police and is free to lodge a complaint against the offender. Observatoire Paris Montparnasse may remove the offending Visitor from the Venue without compensation, reimbursement or other recourse.
Visitors are required to respect the employees of Observatoire Paris Montparnasse, as well as the cleanliness of the premises and the equipment made available to them for their pleasure and comfort.
For everyone’s comfort and safety, it is forbidden to eat or drink (picnics) at Le Lieu (levels 56 and 59). A paying restaurant is available on the 56th level.
2.2. Evacuation of the Venue
For safety reasons or in the event of force majeure, Observatoire Paris Montparnasse reserves the right to restrict or refuse access to the Venue or to evacuate it.
2.3. Theft and damage to Visitors’ property
Observatoire Paris Montparnasse may not under any circumstances be held responsible for the theft, loss or damage of Visitors’ personal belongings during their stay at the Venue. Visitors are responsible for their own personal belongings and undertake to take all necessary steps to prevent damage to them.
We recommend that you do not leave valuables in any place whatsoever, particularly in baby carriages.
2.4 No smoking
The venue has 2 levels: the 56th floor (inside – panoramic area) is non-smoking, while the 59th floor (outside – terrace) is smoking (ashtrays are available). These principles also apply to electronic cigarettes.
2.5. Video surveillance
The venue is equipped with a video surveillance system managed by Observatoire Paris Montparnasse. This video surveillance system is installed to ensure the safety of people and property. Observatoire Paris Montparnasse is responsible for managing the system, in accordance with current legislation and regulations.

2.6. Lost or abandoned items
Visitors must take care to keep their personal belongings with them during their visit to the Site.
In the event of loss or abandonment of an object, Observatoire Paris Montparnasse will take the most appropriate measures. Depending on their nature, and always taking into account the security requirements of the site and the Venue, these objects may be kept pending a claim, or transferred to the Lost & Found department.
3. ACCESSIBILITY – Closure of the 59th floor (panoramic terrace)
The terrace may be closed at certain times of the year, as well as due to unfavorable weather conditions or insufficient security. Visitors are informed that such closures may occur without prior notice, and are fully aware and acknowledge that Observatoire Paris Montparnasse cannot be held liable in this respect.
4. PROHIBITION OF ANY UNAUTHORIZED COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY
4.1. On-site sales and leaflet distribution
As a general rule, the sale of any goods and/or services on the premises is strictly prohibited.
The resale of tickets for admission to the Venue is prohibited.
Similarly, the distribution of leaflets, flyers and other printed matter or signs by Visitors is strictly prohibited.
4.2. Photography, recording and copying
Any image, video, sound or photograph taken by a Visitor on the Site may only be used for strictly personal and non-commercial purposes, without the express prior written consent of Observatoire Paris Montparnasse.
